Now that we’ve heard from everyone about what’s important or what’s at stake, it’s time to engage our mutual care, creativity and wisdom to make agreements that work for all.

Agreements are designed to attend to needs. They aim to move towards what works better for everyone. This is a place to engage care and creativity in exploring what would support all involved.

TIPS

  • Agreements are SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, timely.

  • Agreements are designed to meet needs; they are essentially strategies that aim to resolve problems.

  • Agreements are entered into freely, contain no demands, and are designed to work well for all.

Take 5 or so minutes and think of 2-3 possible agreements that could attend to this issue. Once agreements are identified, evaluate them to determine if they are SMART and work best for everyone.

Hopefully there is some relief in exploring this conflict within this safe and supported container.

Now, as we conclude, here are some questions for you to consider. Choose one to answer to close this process.

  • How are you now?

  • What needs were met by this process?

  • Any appreciations you want to share of yourself, your facilitator, this process, or the person you engaged with?

And finally, facilitator, share your appreciation of an aspect of this restorative conversation.
